Room Leader

My name is Edona and I am the Room Leader for toddlers at Monkey Puzzle Olympia

What fills your heart with happiness about your current role?

I enjoy spending time with the children, playing with them and helping them develop. I also enjoy working in partnership with our parents, which helps me understand how to help a child achieve their ‘next steps’.

How did you get your career in Early Years started?

I started working in Early Years 4 years ago here at Monkey Puzzle Olympia. I started as a Nursery Assistant, then after my 6 month probation, I was give the opportunity to study and get my Level 3 in childcare. I studied while working full time, and after 1 year, I achieved my qualification. I because a Qualified Nursery Practitioner, and was based in the Toddler Room.

I went on maternity leave after 6 months, and when I returned, I was offered the Room Leader position.

How are you supported at Monkey Puzzle to develop and progress your career?

Monkey Puzzle gave me the opportunity to achieve my Level 3. The company offers all staff members yearly training.

What is your potential next step?

In my future, I would like to progress myself into a management role.

What advice would you give to someone looking to progress their career in Early Years?

You really must enjoy your career in order to progress. It is important to remain patient, consistent and passionate.
